Aonachan also Unachan is a small crofting township immediately west of Spean Bridge. The name once applied to that whole area west of the river. The present golf course once formed part of the grazings. The old local  people referred to Telford’s new bridge (1813) as Drochaid Aonachain, the bridge of Unachan.
