Ach a’Mhadaidh means the field of the wolf. Today (2024) it is deserted, only stones walls and the remains of houses can be seen.
In 1855-56 the tenant was Drover John Cameron (Corriechoille) who had taken it over from his relation Drover Alexander MacArthur who went bankrupt in 1844.

Pistol belonging to Drover MacArthur. Drovers were given an exemption from the Disarming Act implemented after the collapse of the ’45. So for their personal protection they were allowed to carry a pistol.
